ALBANY, NY -- Tech Valley Communications (TVC), the only locally owned, facilities-based CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) in the Tech Valley Region, has signed a franchise agreement with the Village of Green Island. The agreement gives Tech Valley Communications permission to use the town's Rights-of-Way and underground areas to build a fiber-optic-based infrastructure to serve businesses in the village.
"This agreement means we can build the infrastructure and provide state-of-the-art fiber optic telecommunications services to businesses located in Green Island," said Kevin O'Connor, CEO, Tech Valley Communications. "Our FIRSTLIGHT network offers businesses of all sizes the chance to utilize high end voice and data technology available only in most major cities."
"Businesses that call Green Island home will have an opportunity to take advantage of the most up-to-date technology available as a result of this agreement," said the Honorable Ellen McNulty-Ryan, Mayor of the Village of Green Island. "As a municipality, we want to provide our businesses with all the resources possible to assist in their success."
The non-exclusive agreement signed between Tech Valley Communications and the village runs for an initial 10-year period and restricts TVC from providing cable television services. Recently, TVC signed a similar franchise agreement with the Town of Colonie.
