Tech Valley Communications Earns Inc. Magazine Award

More than 4,500 Companies Compete for Inner City 100 Awards

ALBANY, NY -- Tech Valley Communications (TVC), the only locally owned, facilities-based Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) in the Tech Valley Region, has earned the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) -- Inc. Magazine's Inner City 100 award -- for its continued financial strength and revenue growth over the past several years. The list of 100 companies will be published in the June issue of Inc. Magazine.

The ICIC-Inner City 100 celebrates the accomplishments of 100 of the fastest growing private companies located in the nation's inner cities. The awards recognize businesses that are well-managed and growth-oriented, that provide meaningful jobs for inner city residents, and that contribute to the overall well-being of the community. In 2004, TVC received national honors from ICIC-Inc. Magazine as one of 20 "Companies to Watch."

"Tech Valley Communications experienced a compound annual growth rate on revenues of 119.59% over the five years from 1999 to 2004. Revenues grew from $236,000 in 1999 to $12,050,000 in 2004," said Kevin O'Connor, Tech Valley Communications' CEO. "We've always been committed to making our business grow and increasing our revenues. With the help and support of Mayor Jennings and the City of Albany, we're sure we'll be a constant in the inner city for years to come."

"The City of Albany has worked very hard to promote and assist business start-ups located in our downtown area that employ our residents," said the Honorable Gerald Jennings, Mayor of the City of Albany. "Tech Valley Communications is one of our success stories."

The award will be presented at the Inner City 100 Summit, April 20 to 21 in Boston. Mayor Jennings will present the honor to TVC. The summit includes two days of dynamic programs geared toward celebrating the achievements of the winning firms and addressing topics key to the successful growth of inner-city-based entrepreneurial ventures. The summit includes the Inner City 100 CEO Forum at Harvard Business School.
